Our Apologies – Sugar Cane Refunds & Shipping Delays

We hate to admit it but we screwed up. Recently we started distributing a brand new, amazing paper product. Our Bagasse paper which is 80% Recycled Sugar Cane Waste and 20% Plantation Certified Fibers. This paper is all white and made with some of the best environmental practices that are out there. It’s an absolutely fantastic product.

The Problem

Clever Recycling Bin in Sweden + a Piano Staircase

Now this is really clever. VW hired a team of designers called thefuntheory.com and is having them make mundane activities and put some fun into them. This is how they made a recycling bin. How do we get these in the states?

10 Simple Ways of Reusing Paper Grocery Bags

Remember the days when Mom used brown paper grocery bags to pack your snacks at school? Reusing is one simple way of how we can cut down our use of paper. This is not only considered as being “Green” but is also a great way of saving money.

Many grocery stores have shunned away from using brown paper bags and have turned to plastic bags. The logic is simple, plastic bags are far cheaper and easier to produce. Plastic bags may be cheap but the use of plastic can prove to be costly for the environment.

Benjamin Wong makes Ecopaper Pretty

Benjamin Wong is a Art student at the Academy of Art University in San Fransisco. As a school project, he chose a way to make ecopaper's marketing more appealing. This is his story

The Reason

With the growing awareness of sustainability today, the way we use nature's resources needs to be re-examined in order to understand the necessary changes needed to make our environment a much better place to live in. Sustainability and environmentalism are in need of a makeover in order to become more attractive and to be able to reach out to a larger audience.

Founder of Ecopaper has interview!

Our very own founder and inventor of Banana paper was interviewed over at Blue Planet Green Living. Here's a quick excerpt:

“Waste is a resource. But when people think of waste, they usually think of it as trash, rather than asking, What can we do with it?

“Everything we use at Costa Rica Natural paper products is totally disregarded material,” says Harry Johansing, the company’s founder. “There’s no other use for it. When I approach a new fiber, I look at it as, Is this completely trash? and then I ask, How can I use it?

Our entry to Google's Project 10^100

For those of you who don't know, Google is putting on a project called appropriatley, Project 10 to the 100th. We think what we do could be a potentially worthy submission :) so here's our video entry!

We tried to get to the point and make it entertaining at the same time. I wish we could've packed way more information in here but here's the finished product. I would've loved to have another week to do this! Hope you enjoy.

New Blog Design!

You will notice a newly redesigned blog page! I even added a new little tagline. The old blog's design was exactly like the rest of the page which made it hard for me to read so I had to change it.

Also I've decided I'm going to start blogging. There are actually two reasons behind this.

#1: I think it would be interesting experiment to chronicle someones experience in going green. And #2 and more important is I'd really like to become a better writer, so I figure this is a good opportunity. Unfortunately it's pretty late right now so I don't think this post will be long necessarily.

I hope you like the new design! I'm always looking for suggestions, feedback, etc., so I'd love to hear thoughts.

Cheers for now.
